Value Wholesaler, a leading Windows & Doors manufacturer in the Southern California area is currently hiring for an Senior Accountant in Duarte, CA. 

The Senior General Ledger Accountant holds a crucial role in upholding the financial integrity of a dynamic manufacturing company operating with multiple subsidiaries. This multifaceted position encompasses a spectrum of duties, including reconciling account balances, ensuring precision in the preparation of financial reporting, fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams, and actively contributing to the month-end closing, year-end closing, as well as annual financial audit.

Essential Responsibilities:

Reconciliation and Balancing:

  1. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations on each entity level and the consolidated level, diligently addressing any discrepancies in assets, liabilities, and equity accounts.
  2. Execute reclassification entries with precision and internal work paper notes, including but not limited to current and long-term liabilities, ROU balances, and monthly lease transactions.
  3. Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
  4. Prepare documentation for unusual items and exceptions in reconciliations.
  5. Prepare significant judgments and estimates included in the financial records, including Accounts Receivable Allowance, Warranty Claims, Rebates, and Accruals.

Equipment Held for Sale and Fixed Assets Management:

  1. Demonstrate attention to detail in maintaining the Fixed Assets ledger, ensure detailed record-keeping and timely updates to the status of each asset.
  2. Orchestrate the management of asset-related updates and meticulously record journal entries for various asset transactions such as acquisitions, disposals, transfers, exchanges, leases, depreciations, amortizations, and trade-ins.
  3. Stay on top of Fixed Assets inventory, track discrepancies, and publish monthly asset status report for internal review.

Accounts Receivable, Customer Deposits, and Accounts Payable Oversight:

  1. Review weekly and monthly A/R, customer deposits, and A/P reports, ensure seamless reconciliation with the general ledger.
  2. Ensure the accurate reporting of AR and AP aging schedules.
  3. Ensure the accuracy of COA coding for all GL accounts including expenses, liabilities, and assets in A/P entries.

Collaboration and Audit Support:

  1. Provide integral support during the month-end close process, alongside adeptly executing corresponding journal entries.
  2. Offer essential assistance during both internal and external audits, thereby actively contributing to the meticulous process of financial and management reporting.
  3. Facilitate transaction processing by fostering effective collaboration with cross-departmental teams, thereby ensuring the fluidity of financial operations.
  4. Intercompany Transactions and Financial Analysis:
  5. Navigate the complexities of intercompany transactions, meticulously record intercompany eliminating entries, and maintain oversight over intercompany transfers.
  6. Engage in astute division profitability analysis, and generate insightful monthly job analysis reports that are informative for strategic decision-making.
  7. Skillfully manage foreign exchange transactions transacted by the Treasury department, if any, and properly record and report in accounting books.

Treasury Assistance and Compliance:

  1. Record account transfers, and ZBA transactions.
  2. Ensure compliance with the tenets of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), effectively upholding the highest standards of financial accuracy.

Compilation and preparation of Financial Statements & Compliance:

  1. Play a pivotal role in meticulously preparing financial statements and budget reports as per predetermined schedules by the Controller.
  2. Identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations to the Controller for system, processes, and departmental enhancements.

Variance Analysis and Communication:

  1. Employ an analytical mindset to conduct variance analysis, and promptly address and rectify transactions with incorrect cutoff periods, ensuring data integrity.
  2. Employ effective communication skills to engage with customers and vendors, and proactively resolve intricate accounting matters.

Collaboration with Cost Accountant:

  1. Collaborate closely with the cost accountant to generate comprehensive reports related to Work in Progress (WIP), variance costing, cost center reports, product segment reports and others.
  2. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data in these reports to provide valuable insights into manufacturing costs, breakeven points, flow-through, and profitability.

Budgeting and Forecasting Assistance:

  1. Provide support in critical processes of budgeting and forecasting for each plant and each department.
  2. Leverage financial acumen to contribute to the creation of accurate and insightful budget reports, enabling strategic decision-making for the organization's financial future.
  3. Investigate and document significant variances from the budget and prior periods.

Education and Support:

  1. Offer integral support to the accounting department, and proactively nurture junior team members through mentorship.
  2. Collaborate seamlessly with the Controller and department managers, thereby actively contributing to the continual enhancement of financial procedures.

Assisting the Controller:

  1. Prepare financial reports, perform account reconciliations, maintain the general ledger, assist with audit preparations, and execute other accounting duties as assigned.
  2. Execute core accounting functions and programs related to the monthly closing process.
  3. Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, rolling forecasts, re-forecasts, and cost centers.
  4. Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
  5. Play a key role in monthly GL close, including WIP schedules and account reconciliations.
  6. Extract and analyze sales and cost data, and provide operational insights to the management team.
  7. Ensure contract compliance in collaboration with project managers, insurance agents, and external legal counsel, as needed.
  8. Translate payroll data and employee benefits to GL journal entries.
  9. Coordinate external audits and tax-related activities with the company's CPA firm.
  10. Take ownership of various job duties, responsibilities, ad hoc reporting, and special projects as directed.
  11. Maintain ethical conduct, be cognizant of conflicts of interest, and contribute to the company's success.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements:

  1. 5 years of relevant GL Accountant work experience required.
  2. Demonstrable experience as a senior accountant, coupled with an innate understanding of financial intricacies.
  3. Profound familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  4. Adeptness in navigating financial accounting statements and a comprehensive understanding of financial consolidation.
  5. Expertise in general ledger functions, able to handle both month-end and year-end closing processes independently.
  6. Proficiency in the use of accounting software packages, exemplified by proficiency in ERP Systems.
  7. Strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.
  8. Exceptional quantitative skills that underpin the insightful analysis of complex financial data.

Training & Education:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
  2. A command of MS Excel, including advanced skills in VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  3. Strong written & verbal English communication skill is a must.
  4. Fluency in Chinese, Spanish highly preferred.
